Choosing Colors for your Wedding

The colors you choose for your wedding day set the style and tone for your entire event. You can use color in your bridesmaids' dresses, decorations, cake, favors, flowers, accessories, table linens and even the invitations! Choose colors you love, but also consider the following:

Where is the wedding and reception? Choose colors that complement the setting. Consider the carpeting, drapery and decor, etc.

What mood do you want to create? Vibrant colors add drama, while soft colors evoke a more romantic atmosphere.

What time of year will you marry? The season may influence your color scheme. Spring and summer colors tend to be lighter, while fall and winter colors are generally darker.

Tips: Try to limit your main colors to two or three so as not to look too jumbled and stay consistent with your colors throughout the wedding site. Use a few subdued colors for an elegant look.

A Few of my Favorite Color Combinations

Teal and Coral Vintage Purple and Sky Blue Emerald and Cream Mauve and Wine Lilac and Sky Blue Wine and Blush Pink Sky Blue and Light Yellow Mocha and Blush Pink Cornflower Blue and Ivory Olive and Mauve Mint and Vintage Purple If you like purples try ~ Lilac, Lavender, Periwinkle, Purple, add Sky Blue as an accent. If you love bright pink try ~ Hot pink, Fuchsia, Light pink, Red, add Lime or Tangerine as your accent color! If you adore warm oranges try ~ Tangerine, Coral, Red, add soft Violet, Sky Blue or Fuchsia as your accent color. If you like burgundy try ~ Dark Green, Golds, Champagne, Creams, add any of these as your accent.

If you love blues try ~ Deep Ocean Blue, Navy Blue, Sky Blue, Periwinkle, add Tangerine, Silver or Sandy Brown as your accent.

Fall colors ~ Burgundy, Dark Green, Navy Blue, Silver, Gold, Creams, Burnt Orange, Taupe, Brown and Plum. Fall is a season of comfortable indulgences, fall leaves, and all of the other wonderful vegetables of fall. Bringing all of those colors together and livening them up with some extra splashes makes for a festive and refreshing fall wedding!

A combination of orange, yellow and brown Brown and blue or brown and brown and pink Grape purple and green -- great for wine themes! Winter colors ~ Red, Silver, White, Cream, Burgundy, Sky Blue, Navy Blue, Purple, Plum and Gold.

Winter is a time of warmth, the magic of the snowfall and cozy romance! Colors like blue, champagne, and silver give it a magical feeling, while deep reds and brown add a sense of comfort and passion.
