Working with a Wedding Planner:  Top 5 Tips

1.Choose the planner that's right for you and don't be afraid to listen to your gut.  Ask yourself, "Can I trust this person to pull off the wedding of my dreams"?  If the answer is yes then go for it!

2.Know your magic number.  Most wedding planners can work within any budget but they need to know what it is!  An experienced wedding planner can offer ideas and advice to reduce costs and still meet yourexpectations.

3.Speak honestly and openly.  Communication isn't just the key to a happy marriage.  It's the key to the perfect wedding day!  Your planner needs to know your every wish, expectation, and concern.  If Uncle Bob shouldn't sit at the same table as Aunt Helen let your planner know.  Remember, he/she will be your voice when you're not around.

4.Establish clear roles and delegate.  Do a little self reflection and truly evaluate your strengths and weaknesses.  Decide where you want to remain hands on and where you wish to pass over the reins to a professional.  Sometimes going through a task list and assigningresponsibility is the best way to do this.

5.Trust your planner.  Give your planner the autonomy to do their job well.  Remember, they want your wedding day to go off without a hitch as much as you do.  It's their business at stake.
